More Market Elephants

I had a request for a Market Elephant, I made 2 so B would have a choice of colours. He ended up taking both! I was a bit surprised and sad as I was really looking forward to hanging out with one of them for a while... they turned out so cute and Spring-like! They are now off to entertain 2 new babies, in 2 different towns, each baby named Ella! How perfect. So I will survive and I wish them well in their new situations, I'm sure they will do well!

Little Blue Bird for Craft Book Challenge

As promised (!) here is a Craft Book Challenge project for April! The Itty Bitty Toys book by Susan B. Anderson has some lovely knitted toy patterns, this one was a good starter as it went quickly. My 5 year old requested the worm as he knew once the bird hatched, it would be hungry! The reason I bought this particular book (last spring actually!) was the topsy turvy patterns. I'm currently working on the lion-elephant topsy turvy for my son's birthday present (I'm a month late already). Hopefully I'll have a photo to share soon...!

A Parade of Elephants!

Here are a few more sleepy elephants, new for the Littlest. Left to right, one from IKEA, one from Brunei, one from New York (state!) and one from Texas! I originally posted about them here and have cut out many more but they haven't managed to get sewn together yet... they're on the list!

The Handmade Toy Swap

A few weeks ago I joined a Toy Swap! Bird and Little Bird organized to bring awareness to new legislation that could potentially make life difficult in the US for handmade toy makers (law makers response to hazardous toy materials coming out of China). Annie invited people to make a toy and send it to their swap partner. As it turned out, Annie was my partner, and vice versa. She sent me this lovely Blue Fox from sunny California and I sent her this sunny yellow house with front flower bed that can't wait to be in it's new warmer climate! I've seen swaps on line before and have always wanted to do one (I've since signed up for 2 more, stay tuned!). It was a lot of fun as it also involves sharing photos of the construction process and final product on a Flickr group. A great way to get new sewing ideas or just to get inspired. Thanks Annie for a great first swap experience!

Hello again! We've been away getting some sun and snorkelling! Now that I'm back I'm late for 2 birthday girls' gifts. So there's been a flurry of pattern drafting, cutting and sewing, knitting and bear face making! This was fun to put together. The bears are Yukon Alpaca wool, from Alpaca's right here in the Yukon! The fabric I found on our way back north in Vancouver and I LOVE it! Very cute bears and bunnies and houses. And then there are the hangers that I found in a thrift store - if you ever see any please grab them for me! I'd like to have a bunch for the day in the future when I make and sell children's clothing in an actual shop!

Taa daa! I had so much fun making this fabric house for a certain little girl in Guelph! I can't take the credit for the design, I found it on a Mom's blog called UK lass in the US. The hardest part was to make a decision about the fabrics to choose - next time I want to do an orange shag rug with terry cloth and psychadelic wall paper or something! There is no limit to what to make - garage, barn, firehall, grocery store, pet store...!
